Sports agents deal directly with professional team general managers and other front office personnel on a regular basis. What is it like to be on the other side? This section will cover the daily tasks and responsibilities of management personnel of professional teams. Students will learn how professional team personnel operate on a daily basis and the reasons behind it.
Front office personnel have to work within the confines of the league rules and the collective bargaining agreement. Close attention must be paid to the salary cap and contract terms of players on team rosters. When will certain players be free agents and how does that open opportunities? This course covers lots of ground and requires a solid understanding of sports agent rules and regulations, contract negotiations, and collective bargaining agreements. Commentary and analysis from real front office personnel will be included in this section.
